Death of Well-known Wath Doctor After Accident.
Dr. Frederick J. Burman, of Wath-on-Dearne, was knocked down by a motor driven by a Rotherham man in Blackamore Road, near the Swinton Pottery, yesterday aftentoon, and he succumbed to his injuries in the Montague Hospital, Mexborough, at 9.30- last night.
The late Dr. Burman was about 50 years of age and had a very extensive practice in Wath
and the surrounding districts, and he was for
many years medical officer of health to the Wath and Bolton Urban Council and medical superintendent of the Wath and Bolton Joint Hospital.
He had resided in Wath nearly the whole of his life, taking over the practice established his grandfather and afterwards beld by his father.
He has latterly been in partnership with
Dr. Crawley.
The deceased gentleman had a national reputation as an examiner of ambulance teams, and for many years he supervised all the principal examinations in connection with
the Great Eastern Railway ambulance movement.
For the last two years he has held the position of Vicar's warden at the Wath Parish Church, and he leaves a widow and one daughter.
